Network Engineer
Role Overview
The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, high-performance network infrastructures that support enterprise operations and digital transformation initiatives. The role ensures reliable connectivity for both corporate networks and large-scale projects such as smart city infrastructures and data center deployments.
Key Responsibilities
The engineer designs network architectures including LANs, WANs, wireless solutions, and VPNs. They configure routers, switches, firewalls, and other equipment, ensuring systems meet performance, scalability, and security standards. Routine tasks include monitoring traffic, troubleshooting incidents, and implementing upgrades to maintain optimal network health. Security measures such as access control, encryption, and network segmentation are enforced. Documentation of designs, maintenance of asset inventories, and user training also fall within the role.
Qualifications and Skills
A Bachelor’s degree in Network Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline is required, along with five or more years of experience in enterprise networks. Cisco certifications such as CCNP or CCIE are highly desirable. Technical skills include routing and switching protocols, wireless networking, firewalls, and use of diagnostic tools such as Wireshark. Strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and clear communication are essential. Preferred candidates will have experience in large-scale projects, certifications in network security, and familiarity with regional telecom infrastructure.
Reporting and Projects
The Network Engineer reports to an IT Infrastructure Manager or Network Operations Lead and collaborates closely with security engineers and project managers. Typical projects include corporate office network setups, data center migrations, smart city public Wi-Fi systems, and managed network services for enterprise clients. The position is based in Dubai with local travel to client sites and occasional regional assignments. Flexibility is required for off-peak upgrades and emergency support.
