Role Overview
The Cloud Solutions Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and cost-effective cloud infrastructures tailored to client needs. Operating at the intersection of business and technology, the role translates complex requirements into innovative cloud solutions that enable digital transformation across industries such as finance, telecom, government, and smart cities. The position requires technical expertise, strong stakeholder management, and the ability to deliver solutions that align with both client goals and regional compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
The architect develops and implements enterprise-level cloud solutions using AWS, Azure, or GCP, ensuring scalability, high availability, and security. They lead the migration of on-premise systems to cloud environments, designing hybrid and multi-cloud strategies where needed. Security and compliance play a central role, requiring the establishment of governance frameworks and adherence to protocols such as disaster recovery standards and data residency laws specific to the Middle East. The role includes building CI/CD pipelines, automating infrastructure with tools like Terraform or Ansible, monitoring and fine-tuning system performance, and working closely with business and technical teams to translate requirements into architectural blueprints. As a trusted advisor, the architect recommends emerging technologies and acts as a mentor to engineers, sharing best practices and providing technical guidance across projects.
Qualifications and Skills
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field is required, along with a minimum of five years of experience in cloud architecture or enterprise IT roles. Professional certifications in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud are essential, supported by a proven track record of cloud migration or large-scale implementation projects. The role demands in-depth knowledge of cloud infrastructure, cloud security, identity management, encryption, DevOps practices, and container orchestration. Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills are critical, complemented by a proactive, innovative mindset. Preferred candidates will hold advanced certifications, have experience with sector-specific projects, and possess bilingual proficiency in English and Arabic.
Reporting and Projects
The Cloud Solutions Architect reports to the Director of Cloud Services or the Chief Technology Officer and may lead teams of cloud engineers while collaborating with architects and project managers. Typical projects include building cloud platforms for smart city infrastructures, modernizing banking systems with cloud-native designs, developing hybrid solutions for telecom operators, and creating government e-services portals with secure, in-country data residency. The position is based in Dubai and involves client-facing responsibilities across the region, moderate travel, and flexibility during critical project phases.
