Data Scientist
Role Overview
The Data Scientist leverages data analytics and machine learning to uncover insights and deliver predictive models that guide strategic decision-making. The role supports a wide range of projects including smart city analytics, financial forecasting, telecom customer behavior, and retail optimization. Positioned at the core of digital transformation, the Data Scientist enables organizations to move from intuition-driven to evidence-based strategies.
Key Responsibilities
The Data Scientist collects and analyzes complex datasets, applying statistical techniques and machine learning to extract patterns and insights. They develop predictive models for applications such as fraud detection, demand forecasting, or churn analysis, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to align solutions with business needs. Findings are communicated clearly through visualizations, dashboards, and reports using tools such as Tableau or Power BI. Continuous improvement of data pipelines and feature engineering processes is expected, along with experimentation with emerging AI techniques such as deep learning or natural language processing. The role also involves mentoring junior analysts and ensuring data quality and governance.
Qualifications and Skills
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, or Computer Science is required, with at least five years of professional experience. Strong proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch is expected. Expertise in statistical methods, clustering, regression, and classification is essential, along with experience in big data technologies like Hadoop or Spark. Analytical thinking, business acumen, and clear communication skills are critical, as is the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams. Preferred candidates will have advanced degrees, sector-specific experience, bilingual proficiency, and a record of innovation in competitions or publications.
Reporting and Projects
The Data Scientist reports to a Data Science Lead or Analytics Director and works closely with project managers and client stakeholders. Typical projects include traffic and energy forecasting for smart cities, fraud detection in banking, churn prediction in telecom, and demand forecasting in retail. The role is based in Dubai, generally office-based with limited travel, though flexibility is required for deadlines and data-heavy project phases.
