DevOps Engineer
Role Overview
The DevOps Engineer enables efficient software delivery and operations by integrating development and IT functions. The role focuses on automating deployments, managing cloud environments, and maintaining reliable and secure systems for diverse client projects in industries such as fintech, telecom, and e-commerce.
Key Responsibilities
The engineer designs and maintains CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes. Infrastructure is provisioned and managed through Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation, ensuring scalability and cost optimization. System monitoring solutions such as ELK, Prometheus, or Grafana are implemented to detect issues proactively. The role requires close collaboration with developers and QA teams to ensure smooth deployments, integration of security practices within pipelines, and support during production incidents. Continuous improvement is expected, with the engineer introducing new tools, refining practices, and promoting automation wherever possible.
Qualifications and Skills
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field is required, with at least four years of experience in DevOps or IT operations. Certifications in AWS DevOps, Azure DevOps, or Kubernetes are strongly preferred. Technical expertise includes cloud management, Linux administration, containerization with Docker and Kubernetes, and proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash or Python. Problem-solving, attention to detail, collaboration, and clear communication are essential. Preferred candidates will bring cross-industry exposure, an agile mindset, and enthusiasm for continuous learning.
Reporting and Projects
The DevOps Engineer reports to an Operations Manager or DevOps Team Lead and works closely with developers, QA engineers, and project managers. Projects may include deploying fintech platforms, automating telecom services, enabling continuous delivery for e-commerce applications, or supporting smart city IoT infrastructures. The role is based in Cairo, with standard office hours but flexibility required during deployments or production incidents.
